What will we cover?

Sheep-dipping? We keep using the sheep-dip approach to churn managers through management development training, but then what? We can't learn to ride a bike in a classroom, we learn by practice, repetition, feedback, and the odd fall!! We must be just as focused on deepening skill over time as we are on any initial effort - most often this is either totally absent or it's a weak offering.

Are people accountable? So you gave them some tools or new skills, what accountability is there for them to use them? Most often it's zero. As in, not an ounce of accountability. If they want to, they can show up, have a nice lunch and then go right back to what they were doing before. Find out how we are using traditional tools like 360s and re-inventing them.

Is it driving results? To what degree is it driving improved performance? Driving up consistency and quality of work? Lowering costs? etc etc - for management development to really hold it's own, it needs to start driving hard results and demonstrating a hard ROI.
